MACKAMIDE®

MACKAMIDE® LME is a humectant used in skin and hair care formulations. Unlike glycerin, it offers light conditioning without a tacky feel. Similar to molecules in the skin's Natural Moisturization Factor (NMF), it binds water in the stratum corneum, increasing moisture retention for long-lasting effects. In skin care, MACKAMIDE® LME enhances the water-holding capacity, while in hair care, it adds moisture to improve manageability, particularly in dry hair. MACKAMIDE® AME 100 is an excellent humectant for use in skin and hair care formulations. In lotion formulas, MACKAMIDE® AME 100 imparts similar moisturization effects to the skin compared to glycerin without its characteristic tacky feel. It increases the water holding capacity on the stratum corneum over time for long lasting moisturizing effects. When incorporated in shampoos MACKAMIDE® AME 100 imparts conditioning properties giving improved wet combability, enhancement of natural hair shine, manageability and ‘fly-away’ control.
